Airport Master Plan
A
master plan is a document that guides the phased development of the airport over
time. Blue Grass Airport's Master Plan, which was last prepared in 1995,
has been updated to provide the Airport Board with a comprehensive overview of
the Airport's needs over the next twenty-year period of time. The Master
Plan provides a detailed forecast of future levels of aviation activity, the airport's
ability to provide necessary capacity to accommodate the anticipated levels of
activity and preliminary capacity enhancing alternatives for long-term development.
The Study Process
The
graphic below shows the steps that are taken in the Master Plan Update study
process. This process included input
from a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC was convened in the early stages of the master
planning process as a supplement to the traditional feedback mechanisms.
The CAC was a group of formal and informal community leaders that was organized
by the Airport Board to provide input on the long-range plans for the airport.
Members of the CAC were chosen to represent diverse community interests with regard
to the long-range plans for the airport. The Airport Board considered
CAC input, along with comments received at the Public Information Workshops, as
recommendations for the development of the Blue Grass Airport.
