March 31, 2025 – As travelers gear up for Spring Break, Blue Grass Airport is preparing for an increase in passenger traffic and wants to ensure a seamless travel experience for everyone coming to the airport. Whether heading to a beach destination or visiting family and friends, following these essential tips will help passengers navigate their journey with ease.
1. Arrive Early and Plan Ahead
With higher travel volumes expected, passengers should arrive at least 90 minutes prior to their flight to allow ample time for check-in, security screening and boarding.
2. Check Flight Status Before Arriving
As always, passengers are encouraged to check their airline’s website for any updates on departure times or potential delays.
3. Pack Smart and Follow TSA Guidelines
To expedite security screening, review TSA’s latest guidelines at www.tsa.gov for carry-on restrictions, including liquids, electronics and prohibited items. At the TSA security checkpoint, travelers will find two designated lines: one for standard screening and another for TSA PreCheck customers, ensuring an efficient screening process for all.
4. Shuttle Bus Operations
Continuous shuttle service is available for the first through last flight for any travelers parking in the Overflow Parking lot. Service begins at 4:00 am.
5. Utilize Mobile Check-in and Digital Boarding Passes
Bypass the airline check-in lines by checking in at home. Digital airline boarding passes can also streamline the boarding process and reduce paper waste.
6. Enjoy Airport Amenities for Children
Arrive early and visit the Information Center for educational travel activities. Free activity books and crayons are available, or kids can take a balsa wood airplane to assemble!
7. Picking Up Passengers
As you await the arrival of family and friends, we encourage drivers to park in the Cell Phone Waiting Area located before the airport terminal. This prevents curbside congestion and allows you easy access to pull up to the curb when your family members arrive.
Also, as you prepare for travel after Spring Break, keep in mind the REAL ID deadline goes into effect on May 7. Every traveler 18 years of age or older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States. A REAL ID license is marked by a star at the top of the license.
