July 15, 2016 – The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is pleased to welcome Ronnie Bastin, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) Commissioner of Public Safety, as a new board member. Commissioner Bastin will serve a four-year term and will replace outgoing airport board member Richard Hopgood.
Ronnie Bastin has served in his role as LFUCG Commissioner of Public Safety since January 2015. As Commissioner of Public Safety, he provides leadership and executive oversight for the Divisions of Police, Fire and EMS, Community Corrections, Enhanced 911, Emergency Management and Building Security. Commissioner Bastin is a 30-year veteran of the Lexington Division of Police, where he served as Chief of Police for seven years. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Police Standards, Image and Ethics Committee and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar and the FBI National Executive Institute. Commissioner Bastin is very passionate about leadership and created a model for developing future leaders in public safety.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board is the governing body for Lexington's Blue Grass Airport. Its 10 volunteer members are appointed by the Mayor of Lexington and approved by the Urban County Council.
