Larry Deener has served as the chairman of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board since 2015 and has been a member of the Board for seven years. In addition to serving on the Airport Board, Mr. Deener is employed full-time as a partner at the law firm of Landrum & Shouse LLP. Mr. Deener is also an avid single engine airplane and glider pilot, and he is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve.

"As a Board member and most recently as chairman of the Airport Board, Larry Deener has led the airport through many accomplishments and has actively served our community," said Van Alford, vice chairman of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Airport Board. "During his tenure on the Board, the airport acquired new air service to multiple destinations and has set new passenger records the last three years. We are most appreciative of his leadership and expertise, and we are delighted that he is being recognized for his achievements at Blue Grass Airport."

This past year, Mr. Deener led the Airport Board in the issuing of bonds for new airport projects including west side general aviation hangar development, rental car maintenance facilities, a new baggage belt system and enhanced parking facilities. Mr. Deener has been a member of the Board's Finance & Audit Committee during the seven years he has served on the Board and he has been instrumental in strengthening the airport's financial sustainability. The airport has kept its costs competitive for the airlines so the community can retain its current air service and compete for new routes.
